From Craig Hutchinson:
"We will allow automated shifters in the Non Electronics classes at the 2008 ET Finals. There are already cars with this set up and using a computer you can set current street cars to shift at a predetermined RPM so it will just level the playing field. All other rules remain the same." This effectivly does 2 things to the class. One it's not a true drivers class anymore. Just launch and look. Two it elevates the cost for all involved to be compeditive.

Craig Hutchinson needs to recognize the
difference between an automatic transmission and an automated shifter, two distinctly different items. To the best of my knowledge no automobile manufacturers offer an automated shifter. Both mechanical and electronic automatic transmissions can be adjusted to shift at a predetermined RPM, the initial transmission design determines the adjustment. Many people (including myself) spend money to disable all automatic shifting functionality; because shifting is a big part of driving; and driving is a big part of racing. Take that away and we might as well ride a roller coaster. Look mom no hands! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Raunch, Raunch |

Momma always said if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. I'll say nothing.
