NPR is currently removing and replacing the expansion joint at the 1/8th-mile. We are adding an additional 1-inch of expansion and will grind and polish the concrete joint to eliminate the "bump" that comes up twice a year.

The bump is caused by the heat expanding the concrete and asphalt. Hopefully, this will help with the problem and keep it from recurring.

Update on Track Repair at NPR

$10,000 worth of "bump removal" has been applied. 28" of the 1/8th mile bump was cut and dug out and replaced with steel and concrete. Special diamond grinders & polishers were used to make the transition almost invisible. We also added a 1" expansion joint to alleviate the recurring bump. Additionally, both lanes of the 1/8th mile were scrapped, polished, and new rubber applied. Track may be a little green on Wed. night but the guys are out there dragging new rubber and spraying with VHT to build up the new racing surface. Track should be awesome for our next Q16, Sat 9/12, and for our NHRA Lucas Oil event the following week.
